The Governance Institute for Sustainable Development (GISD) is in the process of embarking on the Citizens’ Basket of Needs Assessment Project (CBNAP). The purpose of the project is to gather credible, verifiable and empirical data on the state of citizens’ daily needs against the background of skyrocketing prices of food, fuel, transport, water and electricity utilities and other basic commodities, which are cardinal to the livelihood, subsistence and sustenance of ordinary citizens. The alarming increase in the prices of the mentioned basic commodities has left a greater proportion of the nation destitute, poor, and in a state of deprivation. It has exposed them to inability to subsist in life.
