The Governance Institute for Sustainable Development (GISD) and the South African Institute for International Affairs (SAIIA) led the launch of the Lesotho Civil Society Governance Submissions to the APRM Report. The launch t00k place on 28 June 2022 at Avani Lesotho, Maseru. More than 60 CSOs and media practitioners participated in this august event, which unveiled the state of governance in Lesotho in ten (10) selected areas. The event was also graced by the presence of the AU APRM Secretariat form Midrand, South Africa and the government of Lesotho.
The GISD and SAIIA had successfully led an APRM Working Group of 12 members representing CSOs that participated in the Lesotho APRM Popular Sensitisation Project (LAPS). The Working Group had embarked on a rigorous research and investigation of 10 identified governance issues in Lesotho. The launch of the Report was the culmination of a twelve-month marathon project of assessing Lesotho’s governance architecture in the selected areas.
